Who We Are
Ian Stinton started Cognitive Network Solutions Ltd (known as 'Solutions') providing data protection solutions in 1995. Cognitive Network Solutions Ltd was previously the software division of the ITE Group (Planet Online/Freeserve). During the latter part of 1995 the management team successfully led a management buyout of ITE Solutions from the ITE Group as the ITE Group wished to concentrate its efforts on their Freeserve Internet business activities. We are in a very enviable position of not having any outside investment or outside share holders and have built a stable financial base.
The ethos of the company is to provide data protection and management solutions to key customers along with services and the applicable hardware and software. This ensures that the customer sees true added value in what we provide. Our aim is to become your remote expert around the management of your data. We have developed a number of services from running your backup’s to simple auditing your data.
Solution’s and S-Store’s owner Ian Stinton has spoken at a number of Storage events throughout Europe on SAN’s, Data Life Cycle Management, Disaster Recovery and High Speed Backup and Restore. He has also been listed by Who’s Who as one of Great Britain’s ‘young entrepreneurs’ and featured in the Financial Times as a Money Maverick.
Solutions have become one of Symantec’s (formally VERITAS) Software largest resellers in the UK able to provide the entire Symantec product portfolio. Solutions now purchase in excess of £1.25m of product from Symantec per annum.
Our Relationship with Symantec began in 1992 with Arcadia BackupExec and then has grown throughout Seagate Software ownership, then Veritas and now Symantec. This has increased our product portfolio considerable over the year, but our rock solid foundation of understanding data has ensured we can offer innovative and cutting edge Data Protection, Compliancy and Availability solutions.
In 2003, to complement the activities of Solutions, Ian Stinton formed S-Store Ltd. The focus of S-Store is to provide storage solutions outside of the Symantec product set and sales strategy. Key software partners for S-Store are Commvault for Data Management and Availability software and SyncSort for specialised NetWare Backup solutions.
Since its inception S-Store has seen an ever-expanding customer base of Blue Chip companies, many of which are household names. Provided below is a list of some of the organisations where we have provided integrated storage solutions addressing critical business and operational objectives.
